Maslow's hierarchy of needs




Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
a method of classifying human needs and motivations into five categories in ascending order of importance: physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization


Physiological needs

1) Physiological: hunger, thirst, bodily comforts, etc.


the most basic human needs to be satisfied- water, food, shelter, and clothing

 Safety needs
2) Safety/security: out of danger like house cloths etc


Safety and Security. protection, stability, pain avoidance, routine/order

Love and belonging/Social

3) Belongingness and Love: affiliate with others, be accepted

Include the understanding and acceptance of others in both giving and receiving love, and the feeling of belonging to families, peers, friends, a neighborhood and a community

Esteem

4) Esteem: to achieve, be competent, gain approval and recognition


Maslow's 4th priority-Title, status, prestige, recognition, power

Self-actualization

5) Self-actualization can be seen as similar to words and concepts such as self-discovery, self-reflection, self-realization and self-exploration.
